Vincent-Young Returns to Training
Monday, 7th Dec 2020 15:41

Right-back Kane Vincent-Young was back in training alongside his team-mates for the first time since pre-season this morning.

The 24-year-old suffered an achilles injury in August having missed most of last season having undergone two groin operations. The £500,000 signing from Colchester’s last first-team appearance, his ninth for the club, was the 3-1 win at Southend in October last year.

Speaking on Friday, manager Paul Lambert said: “He’s doing really well, Kane, I mean really well, and hopefully on Monday we’ll start to see him train with us, which is a great sign because he’s a really good player. He’s not played for a year now, so hopefully on Monday he starts to join in with us.

“He’s not done any sessions like that before, not with us, not with the team. He’ll need a few weeks probably, some games under his belt, we’ll try and arrange things for him, but it’s a huge bonus for us.”

Lambert believes that the Londoner’s return would be a massive boost: “For heaven’s sake yes, because he is athletic, he’s a really good footballer, so if we can get him back that’s a huge bonus for us.”

The Town boss says he anticipates Vincent-Young returning to the first-team line-up before the end of the year: “Tail end of this one probably, maybe [in the] new year.”

If he can avoid future injury, I think there is a huge part for him to play with 2/3rds of the Season to go.

After 13 months out and counting he'll need a good month of reserve games to get up to speed. But as so often happens with long term injured players, they invariably pick up yet another injury . So I'm not holding my breath( that he'll be back this side of the NY .

PL wrap him in cotton wool don't let any of our players with 10ft of him in training and he should be OK for 2nd part of the season.

This is such good news. He has so much potential and he has had a cruel beginning at our club. Lets all wish him well and a successful new year, injury free and a great addition to the side in anticipation of promotion. COYB

When you look at the talent due to Injury lambert has had to deal with, the criticism on here of him seems even more ridiculous

If we had all these back and fit I think we would see a big improvement in results and performance.
KVY, Edwards, Bishop,Downes and Norwood.
Not sure where that would leave Chambers if KVY was fit and he has been one of our better performers this season.
Lambert in line to replace Lennon at Celtic ?
Didn't he used to play for them !!!😂
Seriously though I want him to succeed because Ipswich has been my club for over 45 years and whatever we think it is tough to succeed with such limited investment.

We are still yet to see the midfield three that gave West Ham a run for their money in a competitive match. Dozzell, Downes and Bishop all fit at the same time would make a huge difference to the team.

welcome back KVY and good luck getting (and staying) fit. took the kids to see ITFC v shrewsbury way back in 2019 and he was the best player on the pitch! and let's all keep a bit of perspective: ok we're not world beaters, but we're doing alright! lots of injuries which is always hard to deal with, but we are third after all! Big game against pompey on saturday. Let's all SUPPORT the team! ITFC! Come on town!!

KVY, Edwards, Bishop, Downes and Norwood. Really?

What have any of those players done for ITFC ?

They aren't any better than the kids. In fact the kids have played the best football for ITFC in the last 2 years.

KVY is a great talent but will always be dogged by injury. How long has he been out?
Really how long has he been in . 2-3 games at a time....

Downers is getting his tats readied for Crystal Palace.... and Norwood does he even know he plays football anymore?

And Bish the great talent. Where is it? and who is Edwardes?

If only we had some quality players to come back from injury. WE haven't we genuinely haven't. And what would Bertie do with them anyway.

Good news!...lets hope he's the same player he was before the injury and stays fit.

rfretwell added 21:17 - Dec 7
Few players below the Prem can throw opponents off balance with just a drop of the shoulder but KVY has that plus stepovers, real pace, can shoot and defends well. PL ought give him a run at right wing back, keep Chambo at RB and play Edward's on the left.
